MaXware Extends Identity Management Solution Set with MaXware Federation Server

Making Federation Easier by Leveraging Proven Virtual Directory Technology to Help Customers Build Interoperable and Scalable Services

TRONDHEIM, NORWAY and SAN DIEGO July 13, 2005 – MaXware AS, a leading global provider of modular Identity Management products and solutions, today announced the MaXware Federation Server (MFS). MFS is the first federation product to integrate both virtual directory and federation technologies into a singe core solution. MFS opens up the world of dynamic, on-demand provisioning to partners by seamlessly automating the account creation process on the relying party side. This standards-based product enables companies to build interoperable services that ensure privacy and regulatory compliance.

Combining identity data with Web Services is critical to the success of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). MaXware Federation Server allows enterprises to access their corporate identities through standards-based protocols like Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Liberty Identity Web Services Framework (ID-WSF).

Using protocols such as SAML for linking authentication information and identities across multiple sites can enrich the end user experience by providing personalized user information. The MaXware Federation Server can easily integrate into existing heterogeneous environments, offering a rich set of functionalities such as dynamic aggregation of attributes, account linking and on demand provisioning.

“As federation deployments expand and mature, they will require richer attribute and authorization exchanges between partner sites,” said Gerry Gebel, senior analyst with Burton Group. “Therefore, federation products should be able to retrieve attributes from multiple sources to support personalization, authorization, account linking, and other services.”

“By utilizing our powerful virtual directory as the core component of the MaXware Federation Server, customers gain a flexible solution that works with their existing environment,” said Tor Even Dahl, CTO of MaXware. “Customers will also benefit from the integration with multiple security protocols and associated versions that are needed in heterogeneous environments.”

The MaXware Federation Server is expected to be generally available in late Q3 2005.
