Join, transform, synchronize, distribute, cleanse, and reconcile identity data
SAP NetWeaver® Data Synchronization Engine (DSE) minimizes the time and effort required to administer and manage virtually any type of identity data residing in any type of repository in use today.
This flexible, platform-independent tool can read from and write to a variety of data sources, cleanse and convert data, modify attributes, join data from disparate sources, merge attributes into objects, perform name-space modification, and automate many other vital operations on identity data.
SAP NetWeaver® Data Synchronization Engine’s simplicity and power enable it to be used both for routine tasks such as synchronizing identity data between directory servers and for more complex initiatives including complete provisioning of employees and other user populations. Advanced functionality such as an advanced delta mechanism and built-in templates can eliminate the need for script creation in most implementations.
Enhance identity data consistency, accuracy, and availability
SAP NetWeaver® Data Synchronization Engine can help your organization:
- Always have accurate, reliable, high-quality identity information at your fingertips
- Eliminate time-consuming, error-prone manual synchronization routines
- Cut implementation time and effort: efficient development environment simplifies creation and maintenance of complex jobs
- Non-disruptively integrate advanced synchronization technology: platform-independent, technology-independent architecture works with existing operating systems, directory servers, and databases; connects with common enterprise applications; integrates with leading authentication and authorization products
- Reduce ongoing maintenance costs: identity information is maintained in a single source and automatically synchronized to other applications, directories, and databases
- Quickly locate identity information across your business environment using a single access point for information
- Meet regulatory compliance standards with detailed audit trail reporting
Key features
|
|
Technology Independence
- Can be implemented in heterogeneous environments, independent of operating systems, directory servers, or databases
- Included connectors can be used to read from or write to virtually any data repository
- Proprietary data repositories can be accessed using scripts a simple script interface, or by writing a java class
- Custom connectors can be scripted by writing plug-ins, a task eased by automatic data source discovery (see below)
- Configuration User Interface is a snap-in to the Microsoft Management Console
- Small installation footprint. Can be installed and run on any commonly available PC
Optimized Data Handling
- Processes large amounts of data quickly and efficiently
- Produces a delta database when reading from and updating data sources
- Ensures that only modified entries are written to the target repository
- Ensures that only modified entries are read and processed
- Delta is also used to detect entries which have been removed from a source, and can be configured to automatically delete these entries from the target
Templates and Data Source Discovery
- Uses data-driven functions to analyze data sources and provide proposed format descriptions
- Pass and job templates simplify re-use of previously defined formats
- Data discovery feature makes it easy to view available fields in a data source or target, enabling rapid set-up of synchronizations
- Displays a list of available attributes when accessing a data source, enabling users to choose attributes to be read
Powerful Scripting
- Provides well-integrated scripts for data modifications or transformations
- Can be used to normalize data, call other objects or applications, verify certificates, look up data in other databases, produce reports, or access data sources for which there is no standard access method
- Enables writing in VBScript, JavaScript or Perl
Simplified Data Traceability
- Includes an audit trail mechanism that keeps a complete record of which changes were applied when
- Monitors complete history of any entry within the directory, down to the attribute level
Auto-Generated Job Reports
- Provide comprehensive information including data sources accessed and data transformations performed
- Can include job-pictures showing current data flows and transformations
